Signs of a bad relationship involve these items…

Avoidance – This phase of a bad relationship involves one party not being able to carry a serious conversation.          Cancellation – This part of a bad relationship occurs when one individual puts down the feelings a of the significant other. This happens by experiencing direct insults, or comments geared toward lowering the self esteem of the opposite individual. This form tends to hurt both parties because it covers up the person doing the insulting. For example, Jake is terrified to let Susie really get to know him, so a year into the relationship, when she almost gets to know him inside and out, Jake begins to cover the real him up. As a result, Susie feels neglected, Jake feels empty, and the relationship in essence, falls apart.

Negative Views – This occurs when one partner sincerely believes that actions of the other party are “out of line.” People see what they think they should see in the other person when certain situations take place. This will cause large fights, also ending with a bad relationship. As the situation gets worse, the partners tend to neglect the good things that happen and the fighting situation escalates.

The Escalation – The final phase of a bad relationship ends with the two parties fighting back and forth. Loud words being tossed back and forth, things being thrown, total aggression being taken out on one another. Here, we see each partner delivering blows that are threatening to the relationship itself. Inappropriate shots are tossed back and forth, and feelings are severely hurt. It is hard to fix the situation once this has taken place.

After these items take place, the truth just doesn’t seem to happen anymore. Every situation now occurs with lies, it is near impossible to bond, and the couple probably is not going to grow any closer beyond this point. If you guys notice this happening, you have to do everything in your power to fix the problem. The break-up isn’t worth it in this case. Stop, sit down, and talk about the issues at hand. The problem can be fixed, a bad relationship is not permanent. Don’t let it the problems above be the deciding factor of a break-up.
