If the breakup happened because you decided to end it, then realize that you probably had a great reason for that happening. The
best thing to do in this situation is to remember that the decision was yours. Don’t second guess yourself and don’t think about all the
good times constantly. Doing so may cause you to forget the reason for the breaking up. Don’t run yourself in circles, you can make it hard
on yourself, but remember why you broke up in the first place.
It’s great to stay friends after a breakup but it is vitally important that you maintain your distance. Though you tell yourself
you have put away your emotional side, you probably haven’t. The emotionally attachment will stick around for a very long time, especially
if the relationship lasted beyond a year. If sex was involved, then stay as far away as you can for a year or more because by having sex,
you’ve opened a new level of emotional commitment. Remember, after breaking up, you cannot flirt, kiss, hold hands, go on dates, or have
sex. This defeats the purpose.
You’re going to hurt, and that’s okay, if you need to cry, let it out. Realize though, that you are vulnerable in this time and
that means you could be thinking irrationally which you should not do, or you find yourself hating your ex. You can think all you need to,
the reason why you guys broke up will run through your head, and that’s okay as long as you keep your thoughts within reason. It was an
awesome time while it lasted, but now it’s time to move on from breaking up.
